Hen Harrier, Stonechat both at Riveside Road on 11th March, Black-tailed Godwit and Peregrine Falcon at Marshside 15th March, Twite Connah’s Quay 25th March, Chiffchaff at Connah’s Quay on 29th March and Barnacle Goose at Burton Mere Wetlands the same day.

The first birding group day out we could attend since coming back from holiday was to RSPB Marshside on what was a gloriously sunny day with no wind at all, which must be an absolute first for MArshside which is usually freezing cold and blowing a gale. There was a good smattering of birds and I got two “year ticks” as well as some other nice sightings.

Our final day with a car took us up to the Mirador Del Rio where Gosney says there is a good chance of seeing Barbary Falcon and even informs the reader of the exact ledge to find one on. Well, as it turned out, we looked at that ledge straight away and there it was !
