Chorlton Water Park and Kenworthy Woods : 3 February 2017

A break in the wet weather gave us a chance to get out to Chorlton Water Park and Kenworthy Woods. It has been a long time since we hace gone over there, preferring to go further afield for less common birds. It was well overdue for us to visit the water park so we drove out there and walked around for a couple of house. In the car park we got our first Ring-necked Parakeet of the year and on the water there was a good array of ducks and other birds.

There was a pair of Goosanders and lots of Tufted Ducks and some Pochard. There was also a nice pair of male Goldeneye and a single Little Grebe. In the wooded areas we got a Buzzard, a Redwing and a Goldcrest  as well as the more usual birds and on the River Mersey we got a nice Grey Wagtail. Allin all, a nice couple of hours. My only regret was that there was no rign of Redpoll or Siskin ! We had two year ticks, the Grey Wagtail and the Parrots
