Birding Group – Pennington Flash 26th September 2017

The last birding group date of September was to Pennington Flash. It was a pleasant day but we didn’t see an awful lot. High Tide on the Wirrall 19th September 2017

The first birding group outing of the Autumn term was to the Wirrall for a – not very – high tide of 9.3 metres at 10:23am. I would put food out on the bird table for the ground feeders but it has been raining torrentially recently so there’s not much point.

Hoylake High Tide 10th September 2017

It was “Wader Weekend” on the Wirral this weekend and although there were various events on, we opted to go to Hoylake hoping for a good show of waders. It was a Sunday so – despite the new, large, display board on the prom that explains what is happeneing with wader migration and the importance of disturbances caused by horse riding and dog walking, there were plenty of people with dogs off the leash and running at the birds. There were also a couple of horse riders !!

We still managed to get some good views, though.
