Cap Formentor Boat Trip & Boquer Valley

On the 6th we had a chance to take a boat trip up to Cap Formentor. We had never previously had a chance to do this as the boats had always been finished for the season. This time we got lucky and, although we could not get a boat all the way round to Cala San Vincenze, we did get a boat that went round the cape to Cala Figuera and back

At first it was surprising that there were so few birds on the water or flying around but, eventually, we got some Yellow-legged and Audouin’s Gulls and some Ravens on the tops. Our reward eventually came when we eventually caught site of some Eleanora’s Falcons, at first quite distant then eventually very close. We saw both dark and light morphs pretty close and this made the whole trip well worthwhile.

We came back and had some refreshments before taking another walk up the Boquer Valley – around half past three in the afternoon. We had more luck this time with rather distant views of Blue Rock Thrush but much better views of Crag Martin in very large numbers, Kestrel, Raven and two Booted Eagles.
