Titchwell Marsh RSPB 4th May 2019

Unfortunately the weather had not improved much from yesterday but we decided to give Titchwell a go – after all it was only a mile down the road. We were at the reserve before the visitor centre was open so we headed straight down towards the Parrinder hides. We stopped half way down at the Island hide to get some relief from the rain and the very high winds. As we were sitting there it started to hail and the haiil was actaully coming through the gaps in the windows and forming small piles on the floor. We waited for it to stop and we ventured out again.

We got Common and Sandwich Terns and several of the duck species you would expect. There were still Marsh Harriers despite the high winds and rain and also some hunkered down waders (see list below) but it was all abit much so we headed back to the visitor centre for a cup of tea before venturing out again, this time to Patsy’s Reedbed where we got year tick Red-crested Pochards.

As the rain got heavier we decided to calll it a day. After all, we are here for a week and there will be bette days – hopefully !!
