May 2022 Summary

New “Year Ticks” in May 2022: 29
New “Life Ticks” in May 2022: 3
Total Species for 2022 so far: 142

Most of our birding in May was during our holiday in Norfolk. We only managed one more birding day suring May and that was a birding group visit to Goyt Valley where we were able to add Tree Pipit and Spotted Flycatcher to our year list. In the garden we are starting to see young birds, House Sparrows and Goldfinches towards the end of the month. We now have three hedgehogs at the same time appearing on rare occasions. One of these might be a youg hog – it’s hard to say. A robin is obviously feeding a young bird on mealworms as it is contantly communting from our garden to its nest. There are still a few Swifts overhead still.
