January was pretty cold and wet so we didn’t get out that much. We went out looking for Hawfinches at Marbury on the 9th but most of the birding we did in January was with the birding group with visits to Burton Mere Wetlands on the 16th, Marbury Park on the 23rd  where we eventually got our Hawfinchesand Pennington Flash on the 30th where we got good views of Siskin and Lesser Redpoll and a Kingfisher

In the garden, we have plenty of birds and have even seen a single Mistle Thrush – we do dnot know what happened to its partner. We did do the Big Garden Watch but there wasn’t a lot apart from the usual suspects.

This January was not quite as good numerically as last January where we got 85 species but I feel that February will see us catch up.
