After the rain at Titchwell we were inclined to go shopping for some supplies we had forgoten to get yesterday for which we would go to the supermarket in Hunstanton. We thought we could fit in a bit of car birding on the way though and in doing so got two year ticks.
We stopped off first at the Chosely Drying Barns area up Chalkpit Lane. We were hoping that we might get Dotterel in the usual field but we didn’t see any and there were no reports on the bird alert sites. However we did manage to get some Red-legged Partridge in the fields and a single, very shy, Grey Partridge – another year tick for the day.
With the rain getting heavier we set off for Hunstanton and when we got there the rain had stopped but the winds were still very strong. Nevertheless we stopped at Hunstanton Cliffs and got year tick Fulmars that nest there.
After shopping it was back home. Not a brilliant day of birding but despit ethe odds we got three year ticks to add to our list.
