Tatton Park 15th October 2020

We went to Tatton Park, principally to look over the gardens but I managed to get a little bird-watching in, both round the gardens and then, after a short walk, down at the meres. It wasn’t a great birding day but, such is the current Covid 19 situation, I still managed to get a couple of year ticks.

It is hard to imagine but I saw the first Nuthatch of 2020 and first couple of Song Thrushes ! Although it wasn’t a year first, we also saw a small group of the first Redwing we have seen this autumn.

We went for lunch at the Leigh Arms and that was nice and quiet. We rather thought that it might be our last pub for a while and it turned out to be the case as, shortly afterwards, Manchester was put into Covid Tier 3 and then on the last day of the month it was announced that the whole country was going back into total lockdown in November. What a year!
