New Species Seen in November

Whooper Swan 29th November Burton Mere Wetlands

It has been a very quiet month for birding for various reasons and was basically sandwiched by birding group visits to Pennington Flash of 1st November and WWT Martin Mere on the 30th. Although numbers of species seen is up on the previous two (Covid) years our sightings still aren’t back to what they used to be. Perhaps we can correct that next year. One nice feature of the month – towards the end – was the return of birds to our garden with Goldfinches and House Sparrows returning in fair numbers. Ann saw a Sparrowhawk in the garden but I missed it.
