{"id":3688,"date":"2013-09-12T18:35:46","date_gmt":"2013-09-12T17:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.billneil.co.uk\/blogs\/birding\/?p=3688"},"modified":"2013-09-17T11:38:33","modified_gmt":"2013-09-17T10:38:33","slug":"3688","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billneil.co.uk\/blogs\/birding\/2013\/09\/3688\/","title":{"rendered":"Visit to Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve : 12th September 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Visit to Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve : 12th September 2013<\/h3>\n<p>I had read on a sightings web site that someone had recorded a &#8220;? juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper&#8221; which would have been a bit of a mega rarity but I was a bit sceptical about it and, as it happened, we ran into a chap who had been at Woolston Eyes a few days before and he said that the bird actually turned out to be a Ruff ! This made me feel much better about not turning up for it but we still fancied a visit to Woolston Eyes on what turned out to be a hot day.<!--more--><br \/>\nIt would appear that all the Black-necked Grebes have left already and all we saw in this department was a single Little Grebe. The highlight, really, was the presence of lots of Snipe and the amusing sight of two Magpies trying to dislodge a Buzzard from a tree branch it was roosting on.
