Summary August 2015<\/h3>\n

New Species added to 2015 Year List in August = 3<\/p>\n

Running Total for the 2015 UK So Far = 154<\/p>\n

New UK Life List Birds In August = 1<\/p>\n

Our Garden<\/h4>\n

The Starlings seem to have suddenly become less obvious. A Wren is almost permanently stationed in the garden calling continuously and a juvenile Robin visits regularly.<\/p>\n

Birding Days Out<\/h4>\n

The birding group hasn’t started up again yet so there are no birding mornings this month. We did get out a few times though, the first being a visit to Hoylake<\/a> for the high tide which gave us lovely views of three of the common UK Terns, this being our first Little Terns of the year. Bar-tailed Godwit was another year first and generally we had a good day out there.<\/p>\n

After Hoylake we dropped in on RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands<\/a> for a cup of tea and a quick look round. We were hoping to hear the Quail that has been singing there recently but no luck.<\/p>\n

A better result came with a visit to Pennington Flash<\/a> where we got a great life tick in the shape of a Sabine’s Gull which showed very impressively. We also saw three Green Sandpipers – our first of the year.<\/p>\n
