We left Gilroy Nature Park and headed for the Boathouse at Parkgate for lunch. A great bonus here for us was the sighting of both Marsh Harrier and a ringtail Hen Harrier – while we were having lunch ! The latter was a “year tick” We added a Kestrel to our “birds of prey for the day” list \u00a0but also on the marsh were Skylark and Meadow Pipits and a Little Egret and a Curlew.<\/p>\n

We continued on down to Burton Mere Wetlands where the Canada Goose domination continues. The usual Black-tailed Godwits were there and plenty of Teal and all the usual suspects. We managed to get another bird of prey for the day in a Buzzard. As we walked around the back of the fish pond we got a Chiffchaff, a Treecreeper and a Nuthatch all on the same dead tree. We still could not find the Tawny Owl though.<\/p>\n
It was quite late by then so we did not go down to Inner Marsh Farm.<\/p>\n
