{"id":6447,"date":"2017-04-25T19:12:58","date_gmt":"2017-04-25T18:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.billneil.co.uk\/blogs\/birding\/?p=6447"},"modified":"2017-04-26T13:57:25","modified_gmt":"2017-04-26T12:57:25","slug":"woolston-eyes-25th-april-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billneil.co.uk\/blogs\/birding\/2017\/04\/woolston-eyes-25th-april-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Woolston Eyes 25th April 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--Woolston Eyes 25th April 2017--><br \/>\nAfter our visit to Moore Nature Reserve with the birding group (actually just six of us) we went to a local pub for kunch before heading off to the nearby Woolston Eyes Reserve where we managed to get a couple of examples of our target bird, Black-necked Grebe, which was a &#8220;year tick&#8221; for us.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I had hoped to get some Med Gulls or waders there as there have been some reports recently. I also hoped to get a Grasshopper Warbler and we did meet a group of photogrpahers who had both heard and photographed one just before we arrived but despite looking around and keeping our ears open for reeling, we didn&#8217;t hear anything.<\/p>\n<p>There were only two Black-necked Grebes to be seen but we didn&#8217;t look from the smaller hides as the rain started to come down quite heavily.
