January 2018  Summary<\/strong><\/h4>\n

January was pretty cold and wet so we didn’t get out that much. We went out looking for Hawfinches at Marbury <\/a>on the 9th but most of the birding we did in January was with the birding group with visits to Burton Mere Wetlands on the 16th<\/a>, Marbury Park on the 23rd<\/a>  where we eventually got our Hawfinchesand Pennington Flash on the 30th<\/a> where we got good views of Siskin and Lesser Redpoll and a Kingfisher<\/p>\n

In the garden, we have plenty of birds and have even seen a single Mistle Thrush – we do dnot know what happened to its partner. We did do the Big Garden Watch but there wasn’t a lot apart from the usual suspects.<\/p>\n

This January was not quite as good numerically as last January where we got 85 species but I feel that February will see us catch up.<\/p>\n
