The relaxing of Covid lockdown meant that we were able to take a modest holiday for a week. We went to stay with friends Somerset and on the way there (and back) we stopped off at WWT Slimbride. We also managed a trip to RSPB Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath. It wasn’t the best time of year for birding but we still managed to get seven year ticks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Our first trip of the month was a visit to WWT Slimbridge on 20th August 2021<\/a> where six of our seven year ticks. The best bird of the day was fairly distant but clear views of a pair of Common Cranes. Whilst staying with friends in Montacute, we managed to fit in a trip to RSPB Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath on the 23rd<\/a> August 2021. We didn’t see anything much there but it was a nice walk on a warm day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
